Gender and Essential Services in Low-Income Communities

Report on the Action Research Project on Women’s Rights and Access to Water and Sanitation in Asian Cities
by Jagori and Women in Cities International (WICI)
This report documents the key findings of the action-research project on women’s rights and access to essential services in JJ re-location areas of Delhi with a view to address the ‘gender service gap’ by identifying issues of safety and security with reference to essential services like water, sanitation, solid waste management and power supply. It also delves upon the extent of gender-sensitivity of the current urban essential services governance frameworks in Delhi and explores ways of engaging resettled women with their local government agencies and other service providers.
