Gender and Essential Services: Deepening our Analysis

Scoping Study in Bawana Resettlement Colony: 7 New Blocks (2012-14)
by Jagori
Presented in this report are the findings of the scoping study conducted in Bawana resettlement colony that examined the vulnerability of urban poor women and girls when they have to access insensitive infrastructure and services. The report brings to forth that they face dual vulnerability. Being women, they are always considered as “second citizens” to every policy, plan, programme and benefit. Moreover, when this gender identity is coupled with poverty, age, disability, etc., the impact is much more complex and severe.
